Asthma Education Conference for Tribal Health Officers Serving the Aberdeen Area - October 5-6, 2006

On October 5 and 6, 2006, the Aberdeen Area Tribal Chairman’s Health Board (AATCHB) and The University of Iowa Environmental Health Sciences Research Center (EHSRC) jointly hosted, “Asthma Education Conference for Tribal Health Officers Serving the Northern Plains Area,” in Rapid City, South Dakota.  The goal of the meeting was to advance the state of knowledge of asthma among tribal health professionals working within the Aberdeen Area (ND, SD, NE, IA) so that they may transform this knowledge into better medical services and heightened understanding of this condition and its environmental triggers in their communities.  A second goal of the conference was to foster new and ongoing collaborations between tribal health leaders, Native American health organizations, area universities, and governmental entities.
