The Oxidative Stress and Metabolism Research Cluster brings together experts in oxidative stress as it relates to cancer, viral infections and PCB metabolism, as well as sulfotransferases and peroxidases in drug metabolism and chemical carcinogenesis . In addition, this Research Cluster provides new training opportunities for students interested in Environmental Chemistry, Free Radical and Radiation Biology, and all aspects of Toxicology, and where these fields overlap. |

Specific Aims

Build collaborative relationships among researchers with diverse skills and experience in oxidative stress and metabolism through new research projects, formal seminars and less formal exchanges, common graduate and post doctoral trainees, and shared teaching responsibilities;

Establish, through outstanding research and training, a Center recognized nationally and internationally for excellence in oxidative stress and metabolism.
Alongside these primary aims, Cluster members are building a formal training program in toxicology, drawing on expertise and experience from this Cluster, training doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars in all areas of environmental and human toxicology.
