The investigators of the Inflammation and Innate Immunity Research Cluster are internationally recognized for the quality and impact of their science. This world-class group has broad research interests, but overlap in their investigations into immune and inflammatory aspects of environmental exposures, especially as they result to inhalational exposures and pulmonary responses. This Cluster explores determinants of host susceptibility, epithelial and immune cell responses, innate immune mediators, and endotoxin signaling. |

Specific Aims
- Promote investigations into inflammatory and immune mechanisms relevant to and responsible for the health effects of agricultural and rural exposures;
- Promote and enhance training in the disciplines of inflammation and immunology that are relevant to environmentally-related lung disease; encourage trainees to pursue studies in related areas of research;
- Serve as a national resource in inflammation and immunology for mechanistic studies related to agricultural and rural exposures.
