ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SCIENCES RESEARCH CENTER

A National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences Center of Excellence

Environmental Genomics Initiative

Director:
Co-Director:

Jeffrey C. Murray, M.D.
Paul McCray, Jr., M.D.

In 2007, a new Center goal was undertaken to establish a Research Cluster which will serve as a hub of intellectual activity to build innovative environmental genomics into the EHSRC research portfolio. This Research Cluster is also designed to serve as a resource that will facilitate the transfer of knowledge and techniques to junior investigators beginning new programs and established investigators ready to incorporate genomics into existing EHSRC investigations. We will take advantage of successful efforts already in place on our campus with investigators such as Drs. Murray and McCray who have a long standing experience in genomics/genetics as well as the capability to provide leadership and guidance.

Specific Aims

Aim 1) Create a new Research Cluster devoted to expanding research in Environmental Genomics

Aim 2) Provide mentoring for fellows, junior faculty and established investigators in genomic strategies

Aim 3)
Guide the Integrative Health Sciences Facility to provide technical support, planning and statistical genetic approaches for Environmental Health Sciences research

Aim 4) Develop an ongoing seminar series highlighting environmental genomic approaches being used in the EHSRC

Aim 5)
Participate in Internal Advisory Committee Meetings and Center retreats to contribute expertise on environmental genomics
