Dr. Durairaj's main research interests are in outcomes research in the critically ill. Currently, she is studying the prevention of biofilm formation in endotracheal tubes, and using aerosolized xylitol for prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia. Other projects include a randomized controlled trial of long-term non-invasive ventilation for stable COPD and assessment of tracheal colonization patterns in the intensive care unit.
