Dr. Engelhardt's research focuses on the development of gene therapies for inherited and environmentally induced diseases. Included are two major research areas: 1) The study of lung molecular and cellular biology as it relates to the pathogenesis and treatment of cystic fibrosis (CF) lung disease and 2) Molecular mechanism of redox-mediated environmental injuries such as ischemia/reperfusion injury and sepsis and the development of molecular therapies for these disorders.
